Quick reply about the "plot holes"

They aren't plot holes until the whole story ends and they aren't explained. Have patience and everything will tie together.

When I'm done with this run we can all look back on those comments and laaaaauuuugh.

Quick Comment on my update schedule:

I work 40+ hours a week to pay for rent/bills/etc and my computer is currently on its last legs-- it's a miracle I was even able to get it to let me finish this update.

PLEASE be patient. These updates aren't taking long because I'm lazy/the amount of work that goes into them/etc., it's because i just can't find the time to work on the stuff I want to for fun. (Those of you who are still in school-- this is what it's like in the "real world". Be prepared).

Weston: Stop! We come in peace!

Tentacruel: You and others have come into my territory! You threaten my nest! In years past with humans their machines and vessels have destroyed many of my eggs!

Tentacruel: I will destroy anyone who dares come near and teach the others a lesson they shan't forget!

Weston: We mean your eggs no harm, please let us pass peascefully to Cianwood!

Tentacruel: No! I shall not let any pass! You will bring more humans with you to destroy me and my children! I will protect the nesting grounds of my ancestors!

Weston: As a Paragon I give you my word that we will do no such thing!

Tentacruel: A Paragon? You are a Paragon?

Weston: Yes! And once we reach Cianwood I promise that we will alert the humans and have them divert their ships and leave you in peace O great one.

Weston: We must reach the Island a dying pokemon depends on our haste!

Tentacruel: You and the Human may pass Paragon

Weston: I will not forget your kindness.

Visually, this segment is stunning. Seriously, the light and shadows, the colors, the different perspectives, the rain effect; everything looks beautiful. I am completely in love with how you've drawn the water as well. However, from a storytelling perspective, this whole thing should have been cut.

This is filler. You did NOT need to waste eleven panels with nothing but pokemon heads and coded dialog, especially when said panels do nothing but take up space. I have to thank SUGauthor for the translation, but really, it was unneeded. Everything said in the braille panels was reiterated in non braille speech bubbles just a few panels later. Why go to all the trouble of hiding it when you're just going to tell us everything anyway?

I'm sorry Petty. I know you've been getting a lot of comments from trolls and disgruntled fans lately, but even I couldn't hold my tongue (still my fingers? I am typing, after all...) for this one.

I'm glad to see an update, but I'm afraid of what we'll see in the comment section here.

Good luck and hang in there! You're an awesome artist and storyteller. Just remember that filler is a killer no matter how beautifully drawn.

timemonkey (Guest), March 4th, 2014, 9:20 pm     Reply

@Jerard: Maybe you shouldn't be so rude. It's her webcomic and it's up to her what the plot focusses on and how quickly things progress. While this update may boil down to one random encounter it progresses the plot as they move to the next town, helps explain why they have to get the medicine to begin with and furthers the 'something's up with Weston' subplot.

Petty, this was a great update, well worth the wait for the art alone. I've very much been enjoying your HG run, and I loved you LG run as well. I think you've spoiled me though, I keep looking for nuzlocke comics of similar quality but haven't found many (though if anyone has any recs they'd be appreciated).

@timemonkey: What SUG said. Try Myths of Unova, it's way better than this. Though it doesn't update any faster, it at least keeps the main focus on the nuzlocke run and doesn't try to be something it's not.

Hello Petty !

I have read with deligth your LG run, and it is with as much pleasure that I read your HG one ! My comment can't amount to much about your drawing skills, since I don't draw at all and so I wouldn't know what I would be saying, but I still find your comic very beautiful, especially the ligths in the one of this week. I also would like to say to the people that complain about the story that if they are not happy about it or its story, they can write their own, or at least quit coming here, if they do not like what they find. I would say that Petty draws the story she wants, not the story we pay her to draw, so we have no say on what she should or shouldn't do.

Keep it up Petty, what you do is really good ;) !

Pavel (Guest), March 5th, 2014, 2:30 pm     Reply

@Jerard: Lol, if you find that coming here is a waste of time, no one is holding you, you are quite free to go elsewhere (and to not come back). I you want another story, why don't you write it yourself? After all, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

To Scott
@Scott => Never said that this comic was perfect, I am just saying that what you people find is wrong with it (namely, the story) is an illegitimate criticism : it would be legitimate if Petty had signed a contract with us stating what story she would be drawing, and if it appeared she didn't respect this contract. But she has not signed such a contract, she is not bound to draw what YOU think should be the comic. As long as your criticisms are about the story, they are subjective, and can't be called "legitimate objective flaws".

@Guest: I've now read the comic, which is sadly on hiatus for the moment. Guys COME. ON. Petty works hard on this, really hard, and she doesn't deserve the hate. Yeah, maybe this wasn't completely necessary. Maybe it was just filler or not the absolute best storytelling. But so what? This is supposed to be fun and entertaining, and she's trying to give you this (beautiful) art so that can happen. As long as it keeps you from being bored out of your mind for a few seconds, give you reason to (even out of hate)do and think about something... then it's done its job. Chill, guys. Chill.

Pavel (Guest), March 11th, 2014, 1:46 am     Reply

@ Guest (how convenient) :
I am not defending someone in particular, "just becauz", I am taking down what I think is a wrong/unjustified reasonning. If you were to say dumb/unjustified things, but that those things couldn't hurt in a unjustified way another person's feelings, well I wouldn't have much incentive. But here, not only are those things dumb, they are hurtful, because their message is basically "I don't like the way you are doing things". Again, such a message could be accepted if the comic were being drawn for you, maybe after a contract you would have signed with Petty. But this is not the case, so Petty, from the start, isn't entitled to draw what YOU think the comic should be, and so, coming here and saying "I don't like what you are doing, and so you SHOULDN'T do things like this", when, from the start, everyone knows that Petty draws the story she wants, not the story we want, is just plain jerkassery. If you were just just saying "I dont like it", well, for me it would be just mean, and I would just assume that you like to be told "I dont like what you do", since you think it's OK to do the same to another person. But here it's worse, you actually think you have authority to say what to do and not to do to the author of a comic who hasn't said anything about writing what you want. It's just plain wrong as far as contractual relations (and social relations, might I add) is concerned.
To sum it up : your unjustified commentaries and criticism make you seem to be a huge jerk. Again, if you don't like what you see, go draw your own comic, and don't bug people who actually use up some of their time to share their creation and entertain other people.

SpotOn (Guest), March 11th, 2014, 6:38 pm     Reply

Hey, if you don't like what's being said in the comments, then don't read them. Noone's forcing you to read them, so if you don't like them then go read something else. People write the comments THEY want to write, not what YOU think they should write. Who are you to criticize anyway?

Seriously, though, until Petty herself makes a statement about what is being said in her comments section, I don't think we need a white-knight trying to police everyone's opinions. It's obvious that this doesn't bother Petty nearly as much as it bothers you, so just relax.

Criticism's, trolling, and DIFFERING OPINIONS are all things that every creative person has to deal with when they submit their work to the public. Are some of the comments rude and unfounded? Yes. Do those rude comments take anything away from Petty's comic? No.

These are not professional reviews. These are comments from readers expressing how they feel about what they've read. The fact that Petty has managed to attract so many different people should be enough to show what a good job she's done with her comic.

Pavel (Guest), March 12th, 2014, 5:27 am     Reply

@SpotOn :

Your analogy between my comments and yours, and how what I said to you (“don’t stay here if you don’t like what you read (when reading the comic)” and what you say to me (“don’t stay here if you don’t like what you read in the comments”) should have the same value as far as argumentation is concerned, does not hold, for the following reason: when I read the comic, my aim is to be entertained. Whereas when I first read the commentary section, my aim was to see what other people thought of this comic; and there, every time I come back here, it is to logically take down comments which can be hurtful, and would be hurtful for no legitimate reasons. There is a difference between staying here and posting potentially hurtful comments for no legitimate reasons, and staying here and posting to point out that those comments are illegitimate. Of course, my concept of legitimacy here is based on the moral axiom of the Golden Rule, which says “Do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you”, which, personally, I extend to “Do not take actions that you know could hurt others if you wouldn’t like them to hurt you”. If you would like (or rather, you would find acceptable that) someone unknown to you, to whom you have no obligation, or with who you have had no relation whatsoever, come to you and basically says “I don’t like what you do so it sucks” (ok, there may be some caricature here, but you got the point), then be my guest, comment away your dislike. But you will pardon me for a priori believing that this condition is not met. Right?

“Who are you to criticize anyway?” => I am a conscious being with the ability of empathy, and I am coherent enough to follow the Golden Rule when I have no legitimate reason to say potentially hurtful things to others. Oh, and I am intelligent enough to analyze my coherence regarding my moral axioms (and their limits).

“Seriously, though, until Petty herself makes a statement about what is being said in her comments section, I don't think we need a white-knight trying to police everyone's opinions. It's obvious that this doesn't bother Petty nearly as much as it bothers you, so just relax.” => You are quite right, and that is why, when I talked about “hurtful things”, I (almost?) always introduced a notion of potentiality, with words such as “can be”, and not a notion of certainty, because I don’t know if Petty feels concerned or not by what is being said here. I am not trying to “police your opinion” (if by this you mean saying that your opinion if wrong) – where did I say that you didn’t have the right not to like the story? -, I am trying to show you that, if we suppose that my version of the Golden Rules applies, yours posts are wrong/incoherent relatively to this this rule, by virtue of being illegitimate. So I have a problem with the comments you posted, not your opinion on the comic itself.

“Are some of the comments rude and unfounded? Yes” => And so, if something is illegitimate, we shouldn’t try to fight it? Just because something is common does not mean it is fair, and I fail to see how the fact that something is common is a justification for not doing something about it if it is illegitimate/not fair.

“These are not professional reviews. These are comments from readers expressing how they feel about what they've read.” => I agree, but, for me at least, those are not reasons to post illegitimate comments (at least if, again, we suppose the Golden Rule applies).

SpotOn (Guest), March 12th, 2014, 7:56 am     Reply

You do know that I'm a different person than the one you've been talking to, right? This is my third comment here and only my last one was directed at you.

I can tell by your response that the tone of my last comment was misinterpreted. This was probably my fault and I apologize for the confusion. The first paragraph was meant to be a parody of the "don't like it, don't read it" mentality you and others have been using to shut down arguments. Turnabout is fair play, and all that. The "who are you to criticize anyway" remark was meant to be a hypothetical question that kept to the theme of the first paragraph. I do apologize again for the confusion; rereading it now, I can see how can come off as a personal attack. To be honest, I only picked you out because you were the last comment on the list and because I noticed that you've been arguing with a lot of negative commenters.

It's interesting to hear that you're trying to follow the "Golden Rule" when you white-knight for Petty. In fact, I think this is the first time you've mentioned it. I certainly didn't know that, and I'm sure noone else you've talked to did either. I might be wrong, but I don't think anyone on this comment page has attacked Petty personally. There just seems to be a few comments expressing dissatisfaction with the comic itself.

Now, I see you've quoted a lot of what I said in my last comment, but I notice that you missed a very important part of it. Allow me to say it again; "Criticism's, trolling, and DIFFERING OPINIONS are all things that every creative person has to deal with when they submit their work to the public." Basically, Petty knew the risks when she posted this online. Since I still don't see her coming here and telling the trolls and naysayers to be nice to her, I can only assume that she understands the concept.

Why do you feel you have to defend this comic? People have legitimate reasons for feeling the way they do about it given the wait time between pages and this recent side-quest, filler update. But even the most obnoxious of trolls can't really affect the comic at all. It stands on its own, with all its faults and merits, like every good story should. Can you think of anything that everyone everywhere agrees is good? (And please don't say something like, food, or water, or not killing people. We both know I'm talking about creative endeavors).

So just relax. Negative comments are not a big deal, and if Petty ever plans on submitting something professionally (which I REALLY hope she does, she has an excellent writing ability and her art just keeps getting better^^) then she's going to have to learn how to deal with criticism and trolling sooner or later. She's all ready doing a good job with it now, why not let her keep handling it?

Guys do we really need to make a big whoop about this? After all it's just a comic for our entertainment made by a brilliant artist I don't see the point that you guys have to debate about it, when you made those paragraphs was it really necessary? You could have done something a bit more useful instead of complaining, I know this will turn out to look like a paragraph but can we all just I don't know, read it, comment about some good things and leave and wait for a new page, ain't that hard, no need for hate and such, got nothing nice to say don't say anything at all :P

@ SpotOn =>
“You do know that I'm a different person than the one you've been talking to, right? This is my third comment here and only my last one was directed at you.” => Well, my bad, it is what happens to me when I am not thorough enough when answering to things like this. I guess I was just happy to put a name/a pseudo to someone I was answering to, and then I took all the comments and made them your own.

No pb for the “who are you”, which, after rereading, I answered awkwardly anyway.

“I don't think anyone on this comment page has attacked Petty personally” => Well, one would need to define “personally” first: when what you read is basically (again, maybe it’s a caricature, but I think it not far off, if it is) “I don’t like your story so it sucks”, I can understand why it could be felt as personal. And when I stated my version of the Golden Rule, I never referenced a criteria about being personal or not, my sole criteria is “can it hurt someone else?”.

“"Criticism's, trolling, and DIFFERING OPINIONS are all things that every creative person has to deal with when they submit their work to the public."” => Again, being dissatisfied with the comic is one thing that is perfectly acceptable; saying it when doing so has no legitimacy, and at the same time knowing it can hurt the person concerned, is not. And again, it is not because, statistically speaking, such things are bound to happen, that they are fair or justified, and so I don’t see why I shouldn’t point out the incoherence of such behavior regarding the Golden Rule.

“Why do you feel you have to defend this comic?” => I guess I do it out of boredom: you said it yourself, Petty never came here to say what she think of the discussion, so I don’t even know if she approves of this or not, yet I carry on. I like to point out what I consider incoherence/inconsistencies (but since I am explaining/proving my points, it’s not just “what I consider”). “People have legitimate reasons for feeling the way they do about it given the wait time between pages and this recent side-quest, filler update.” => All you are saying is that people’s expectations are not met, but the question is: was it legitimate of them to have those expectations? If not, then the fact that they complaining has no legitimacy. If they want their expectations to be fulfilled, then they can just take their pen and do the job themselves.

“Can you think of anything that everyone everywhere agrees is good?” => As far as artistic creation is concerned, hell no. But again, finding it bad is ok; expressing it when having no legitimacy for it is potentially not.

“she's going to have to learn how to deal with criticism and trolling sooner or later”=> Criticism like “you could have done this way if your aim is …” is ok, because it just says that, for a given aim, it could have been done better, so the criticism is relative to something. But criticism that are absolute like plain “I find this bad”, well, it’s not constructive, and I don’t see the point of doing it. And as for the trolling, again, if you recognize that trolling is wrong, well of course we will have to face some, but that does not mean it is fair or justified, and shouldn’t be condemned.

@Um =>
I knew I could spoil this comment section by doing what I am doing, so again, it is clear to me that I do this for myself first. I guess it will die down quickly, now, if it can reassure you.

@ Mango Dolphin =>
“negative comments aren't that much of a big deal” => Of course, but still, as I said, why tolerate something that is unjustified and can be reasonably thought of being hurtful?

@Pavel: has it occurred to you that you might be causing a greater problem than you're solving by taking such umbrage at someone's opinion? Part of the beauty of places like this, dA, etc. is that multiple opinions can be heard and learned from, after all! If someone has a problem, let it stay theirs. That's MY opinion.

"@Pavel: has it occurred to you that you might be causing a greater problem than you're solving by taking such umbrage at someone's opinion?" => If by "problem" you mean "pollute the commentary section", then yes, I might. If this isn’t what you mean with “problem”, then no, or at least I don’t think so right now. Would you care to enlighten me, in that case?

Moreover, for the record, again, I am not condemning the fact of having an opinion, I am condemning the fact of stating that opinion when both the following conditions are met: 1) the stating of the opinion might (“high probability”) be hurtful, and more importantly 2) the opinion is not legitimated (ex: “if you had used this technique, then you could have achieved this, or achieved this aim better, because [insert explanation here]” has the legitimacy of trueness, as an objective {cause -> effect} relationship; “I don’t like the story because I was expecting something else” is not, because, since Petty hasn’t signed a contract stating what she would draw, the person had no legitimate reason to think that what it likes would be the things drawn).

“Part of the beauty of places like this, dA, etc. is that multiple opinions can be heard and learned from, after all!” => Well I don’t know what you can learn from comments such as "this is filler in my opinion so it sucks” other than the fact that some people, if they think people in general should pay attention to what others feel, are just incoherent jerks. Personally, seeing such things saddens me.

“If someone has a problem, let it stay theirs.” => Well, if that someone would be kind enough to apply to itself this very recommendation, I sure wouldn’t have any problem.

Pavel (Guest), March 16th, 2014, 9:34 am     Reply

Because I want to be very thorough and complete in my explanation. I think that most of the misunderstanding we may have when discussing arise from us not understanding the same things when using a word or an expression, so I try to define the expression I use, and to acknowledge the different possible interpretations. So, sometimes, I actually answer to two or more interpretation, and since I am not in people's head, I also ask them which interpretation was the good one. Basically, my answers are long and sometimes complex, because I want what I say to be true (well, "truer" than what I am answering to, anyway), and that means taking into accound the diversity/complexity/subtlety of reality.

Anonymous (Guest), March 16th, 2014, 4:16 pm     Reply

@Pavel: you caught me with my own advice, true. In a way, it was I who had this problem; I spoke from the perspective of wishing to prevent negativity (not necessarily "polluting" the comments- that much IS consistent with my own post: all statements have some value), since it's a general axiom that "two wrongs don't make a right." I apologize if I came across in a way other than attempting to smooth things over, that was my only intention. Even if one dislikes an opinion or statement, one learns to not express things that way (another attempt at positive spin). Perhaps, like me, the person you chose to argue with made a poor word choice. One never knows. Again, I am not trying to sound didactic or supercilious, only attempting to diminish conflict. If I am not accomplishing that, I will refrain from further attempts, as is logical.
EDIT: I am not disagreeing with your stance on how the person expressed him/her-self, I simply think that ignoring such unfounded editorials (if you will) is more effective at reducing their credibility.

Pavel (Guest), March 17th, 2014, 1:25 am     Reply

“Again, I am not trying to sound didactic or supercilious, only attempting to diminish conflict.”
=> Oh, ok, I get it then.

“I simply think that ignoring such unfounded editorials (if you will) is more effective at reducing their credibility.”
=> Hm, I am not sure I agree with your last sentence, though. Not answering to illegitimate comments is valid when we know everyone is able to tell they are illegitimate: why spend time to explain the obvious? But how is such a knowledge achievable? I still prefer to state what is obvious to me because I don’t want to take the risk of someone thinking those comments are legitimate (and one with a twisted mind could use some of conspiracy’s theory elements: “if they are not reacting, then it must be true! See? They are not denying it!”). But then, after this explanation has been made once, no need to hammer it every time, sure, I guess.

In fact, if I have answered all of people’s questions, I guess I will stop there.

I'm so glad I decided to come back and see if this had gotten updated. Totally worth it.

Don't listen to them Petty. They might complain that all these panels were wasted on one encounter, but they would also complain if you had kept it to one or two panels since that would be obvious. You do what you think is best. You already proved that you know how to turn a nuzlocke run into an awesome story with Leafgreen. So keep on keeping on.

Oh and screw paragon, Renegade for life!

I find the negative comments on here highly humorous. If you don't like it, why read it? Are you so devoid of a worthwhile life that you feel the need to slag someone else's hard work off?

All-in-all it is evident that those laying on the criticism do so because they have nothing else to do; after all such people cannot appreciate the situation of the balancing of doing a web-comic and working to pay off bills in addition to the general living if they aren't working, aren't capable of drawing or doing anything decent with their lives. Please get off the internet, stop claiming your welfare and do something worthwhile.

As for those whining about alleged plotholes, please see Icalasari's post, which explains the basic concept behind any form of fictional plot.

As for Petty - keep it up. I was surprised to see this update and thoroughly enjoy reading this comic.

@Charlotte057: It's at least partly because of the increase in quality. The LeafGreen run wasn't done in color until the Elite Four (not counting stand-alone panels and those AMAZING animations) then went back to black and white until Mewtwo and the epilogue. Petty's life has gotten way busier, too, since then.

You see this all the time with Nuzlockes, though. They start off fast and then taper off into nearly nothing. Here's hoping Petty doesn't get sick of this comic and quit (which is another thing about Nuzlockes...)

BlackSheep (Guest), October 14th, 2014, 1:39 pm     Reply

Hard to believe this was once a comic based on a challenging way of playing a Pokemon game. Not that that's such a bad thing, but to take the art to this level, emphasise the situation so much, just to introduce the word 'paragon'... All from an encounter in the game with a common jellyfish fifteen levels below your team that could easily be dealt with in one turn.

SpotOn (Guest), October 14th, 2014, 5:47 pm     Reply

Math Time!
This comic started June 10th of 2011. It's been 3 years, 4 months and LOCKE has only earned 4 badges. There are 16 badges in HeartGold. At the pace this comic is going it's gonna be (give or take) 10 more years before she collects all the badges. And that's not counting the Elite 4 or any other important battles or plot things...

Still love this comic, but I'm not sure how I'll feel a decade from now.

@BlackSheep: THANK YOU!! I'm glad someone else said it!

And, I'm sorry, but paragon of what? He doesn't specify. For all that Tentacruel knows he could be a paragon of lies or destruction.

@Guest: 20 years to complete the comic? Now that's pretty strict. It'd probably take 20 years just to get the Cianwood badge, it's probably gonna be set in motion right after a 15 page sub-plot where Locke can't figure out why Weston has the hiccups.

Schroeder (Guest), October 29th, 2014, 5:25 pm     Reply

@Guest: LOL, and let's not forget the other filler plot where Locke and gang have a chapter long epic and all they do is rematch youngster Joey.

Pavel (Guest), October 30th, 2014, 5:18 am     Reply

I would like to see where it is written that Petty would, for the scenario of her comic, adapt to the letter the "plot" of HGSS. Because if this "warning" of her does not exist, then the notion of "filler" does not, either. Again, one more time, Petty draws the story she wants, not the story you asked her to draw. If you do not like it (which is in your right alright), then no one stops you from not coming here anymore.

Guest, December 17th, 2014, 7:58 pm     Reply

@Pavel: oh wow, you really overanalyzed my comment didn't you? Lmao, you poor fool.

sure, she can do whatever she wants with her comic, she just risks losing readers because she might waste everyone's time with a plot that she never bothered to plan out all the way. I bet this entire tentacruel bullshit was thought up at the last minute just to make the comic longer.

Pavel (Guest), December 18th, 2014, 3:07 am     Reply

In my opinion, it's not so much unexpected subplot like this one with Tentacruel as the delay between each update that risks turning readers away. Aside from that, I see no evidence that she didn't plan her story all the way, nor that this subplot was meant to make the comic longer, so I am quite curious to know your basis for your bet.

Nighcrom (Guest), December 19th, 2014, 12:52 pm     Reply

Y'know, personally, I normally wouldn't mind these "pointless" updates with subplot events. Petty's artwork is absolutely beautiful here, everyone can see that. It also makes things more fun for the artist, and it's easier to give your characters more character development if you make time for side events and such. NORMALLY, I wouldn't mind this.

However, my problem is that Petty updates, what... once, twice a year now? It's kind of upsetting when you're sitting here waiting for the plot to move along, and finally, after months of waiting for an update, a whole lot of nothing happens, and you're left thinking, "Oh great, now I gotta wait another 3-9+ months to see if anything happens next time." She doesn't even keep her fans up to speed on what's going on, everyone's just left wondering if maybe sometime in the next few months, there'll be an update. I wouldn't be surprised if this comic was dead. She said she wouldn't abandon it, but people say a lot of things. And look how long it's been.

The wait for one update for this comic is absurd. I'd recommend you go read ShadeofShinon's Emerald Nuzlocke on Deviantart. She takes a few months to update as well, but she's actually committed to her project, and her art is so stunningly beautiful that it's actually understandable why she takes so long.

Well, I tend to agree with you with regards to the wait and the lack of information. What I do not agree with is the fact of calling this subplot "nothing" compared to the original plot of HGSS. Though it may be biased of me to say this now, I enjoyed this double update as much as the "HGSS original plot related" one. If you are looking for the "darkness" of a Nuzlocke challenge, which corresponds to the fact that here pokemon & people can die, well it seems to me that this Tentacruel has been killing travelers for a while now :/

Thank you for the reference, I shall check this out soon ;)

It's not really the "darkness" of the comic that I look for, but rather the excitement and suspense of the Nuzlocke challenge itself. It's all purely subjective, but the meat of a Nuzlocke for me would be the events that actually pertain to the challenge. Gaining teammates, seeing battles portrayed in comic form, wondering if someone's going to die and who it may be, and the gym battles... those are all what I look forward to in a Nuzlocke comic. Of course, having some subplot is good. Nuzlocke comics where their pokemon and side characters have no personality are dreadfully boring. But waiting half a year for a purely subplot strip is frustrating to me.

Everyone is so nervous about when the next update is going to be. But seriously, in all my experience a longer wait means a better comic. My guess is that Petty has some super big comic planned for us and if we wait patiently we get it soon.

Either that a Pokemon dies, either one.

When I see the Braille, the first thing that comes to mind is the Mysterious Benedict Society and morse code. I have no understanding of Braille, so thank you commenters who translated it!

This whole comic is SO AMAZING!!! I was so moved by it that I'm actually commenting on its glory! I've NEVER commented on ANYTHING on the Internet ever!!! I've seen them all (except a few that were either blurry, scrunched up, or corrupted in the LeafGreen one) and I can't wait for the next one! also I love the use of Braille! Taking the time to learn how to write it AND make that whole conversation with it??? Amazing! I have a copy of Ruby, so it was kinda second nature to read for me.

@Chikouu: You're right, Chikouu. It is called braille. And you can find the braille alphabet on the internet or in the pokemon emerald prima guide.

It's almost been a year, and there are effectively twelve pages. I'm honestly a bit disappointed. Hopeful, but disappointed. Sads.

"Guys it's ok, I'd rather wait for a good comic strip than move on from it and accept that it's dead." Nigga u don't wait two fucking years just for 1 more measly part of a comic to come out, move on with your lives fags

This comic began about three and a half years ago, and it's been nearly an entire year since we've had a single update. I'd be okay with this if Petty didn't simply ignore us all, but that's not the case.

It's dead, people. I suggest you all just go look for other Nuzlockes. There are plenty of them out there with authors who are actually dedicated to their projects and keep in touch with their viewers.

It's not even worth waiting for an update. While other nuzlockes that took a while to update actually manage to get a good chunk of the story done within one page, When Petty actually does update she STILL probably won't even have made it to the next gym. Hell I've seen official comics and manga that get to the point faster than this crap. And you know what the sad part is? This comic is in Petty's quick style, not her detailed style.

Hey Guys
Apparently, Petty's just updated this on the official Nuzlocke Forums.

All I will say is...
